I am a Portuguese visual artist, graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto in 1996, after attending the Painting course at the same institution in 1986. Throughout my artistic career, I have developed a multidisciplinary practice grounded in conceptual reflection and poetic expression.
Since 1998, I have presented more than thirty solo exhibitions, building a consistent presence within the Portuguese contemporary art scene. Among the most significant exhibitions in my trajectory are Fairytales at Cooperativa Árvore, Porto; Decorative Backgrounds at Aveiro Municipal Gallery; Away from the View at the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum, Amarante; Something at the Cultural Center of Chaves; and Read My Lips – The Rest of the Story at Centro de Arte Contemporânea Graça Morais, Bragança.
More recent exhibitions include Shittylovesongsdotcom at Cooperativa Árvore, Porto (2016); Tempo (with Carlos Mota) and Casa at Galeria Porto Oriental (2022); Encontros / Begegnungen , Plochingen (2024) Alemanha; Da memória… das flores at MUMA Museum, Matosinhos (2025); and Raw at QUASE Gallery, Porto (2025); . In April 2026, I presented my most recent exhibition in Belgium, marking an important international step and opening a new direction in my artistic career, expanding my work beyond the Portuguese context.
My work has received several distinctions, including Honorable Mentions at the National Youth Competition in Plastic Arts (ANJE, Porto) in 1995 and 1999, the Revelation Prize at the Cerveira Biennial (2001), the Acquisition Prize at the III Congress of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro Painting Award (2002), and First
Prize at the XVIII Art in the Morrazo competition in Spain (2010).
Alongside my artistic production, I have collaborated with the literary field through the creation of book covers and editorial projects for authors and publishers such as Viale Moutinho, QUASI Editions, Rui Lage, Conceição Brandão, and Cosmorama Editions. I have also coordinated and curated artistic projects and collective exhibitions, including Tempo, Casa, Manifesto at Lousada Municipal Library, and Layers, reinforcing my active role as both artist and cultural mediator.
Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and conceptual practices, my artistic language explores memory, identity, time, and human perception, combining symbolic imagery with emotional intensity and narrative depth.
